Confidentiality comes first

Before anything else: sending a message through this website does not create an attorney-client relationship, and information sent before an engagement is in place may not be treated as confidential or privileged. Please do not send confidential or sensitive information until an engagement contract has been agreed and signed. If a matter is urgent or sensitive, call 214-356-0979 instead.

What this site collects

Two things, and nothing else.

  • What you send through the contact form. The name, email address, subject, and message you provide are transmitted to Scott D. Deatherage and stored with the site's hosting provider. This is used solely to respond to your enquiry.
  • Aggregate visit data. Non-identifying information about how the site is used — pages viewed, approximate region, referring site, browser type — may be collected to understand which material is useful.

Cookies and analytics

This site does not use advertising cookies and does not track visitors across other websites. Where analytics are used, they are configured to report aggregate patterns rather than to identify individuals. Every current browser lets you block or delete cookies through its settings, and the site works normally if you do.

How information is used

  • To respond to enquiries sent through the site
  • To understand which pages are useful and improve them
  • To maintain the security and integrity of the site

What is not done with it

  • Information collected here is not sold, rented, or traded
  • It is not shared with third parties for marketing
  • It is not used to build advertising profiles

Information may be disclosed where the law requires it, or where disclosure is necessary to protect the rights or safety of the firm or others.

Service providers

The site is hosted, and form submissions are delivered, by third-party providers acting on the firm's behalf. They are bound to handle that information only for the purpose of providing those services.

Links to other sites

This site links to courts, agencies, publishers, and other organizations. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and the firm is not responsible for them.

Your information

To ask what information is held about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, email scott@sdeatheragelaw.com.

Changes

This policy may be updated. The date at the top reflects the current version, and material changes will be reflected there.
